Jemrok were engaged by TasWater to undertake the construction of a new sewer ocean outfall at Orford on the East coast of Tasmania. The existing outfall was damaged during storm activity with pipework on the seabed being broken off leaving only a short section of pipework remaining. The new outfall now terminates 180 m offshore in 10m of water.
Jemrok completed this project using horizontal underground drilling methodology with the assistance from Dunstans Construction Group form Victoria.
Community and landowner consultation was of one of many key tasks which would determine the success of the project. Dealing with unfavourable marine conditions presented challenges for the crew, the commitment shown by all involved is testament to the working culture at Jemrok, this complex Project was completed on time, and considered a huge success by stakeholders and nearby residents of Orford.
